  4. I:\SHARED\CB215 Doc Masters\MAP_IMAP_eMAP DOCS\Handouts\course placements & assessment levels.pdf Taken from Kathryn's E-mail: Ken Weiner provided the following clarification about the financial aid issue that was raised at our Counseling Discipline meeting yesterday. One critical follow-up to yesterday regarding the concern that new financial aid regulations will limit financial aid to only one repeat of a course. Folks are apparently confusing this with a new regulation which will now permit financial aid for one repeat of a course that a student has already passed, in those instances when the student is looking to improve the grade in the course. There is no change at all to the regulation regarding the number of F's or W's of a course that financial aid will cover, providing that the student is still making overall satisfactory progress in other courses.

F-1 Students - Online Courses

From Heidi: F-1 students must be enrolled in at least 9 credits ‘face to face’ and any additional can be distance (as long as you get to a minimum of 12 billing total). Lots of students take more than one DL class.

Increasing credit load

Starting Fall 2011 registration:

If you permit an AR student to increase his/her credit load you will need to put a note in the comment section of Banner stating the number of credits that are permitted. Admissions will increase the credit limit and they will then be directed to register online.

Financial Aid "repeat" funding

As long as students are making "satisfactory" progress financial aid will continue to pay for classes that are failed regardless of the number of repeats.

However, next year financial aid "can only pay for one retake of any previously passed course".

Change in mid-term grade deadline

Mid-term grades are now due on March 28, 2011 at 5pm.

High school international transcript evaluations

International students who qualify for financial aid and have graduated from high school from another country must have their high school transcript evaluated by an international transcript evaluation service (WES, AACRO). This change was implemented by financial aid two years ago.

"Since we are a two year college and open admission school, it is not necessary to have a diploma in order to be accepted at MC, but is necessary in order to receive financial aid."
