CCJS Advising

Good morning, Counseling friends!

I just wanted to give you heads up that send emails to students in both CCJS programs yesterday about our Fields of Study collaborations. We've collaborated with ARTT 161 (Digital Photography) and PHIL 201 (Morality and Contemporary Law). None of this info is listed on the FOS website yet, but we're trying to get it changed. The professors for PHIL 201 are happy to provide overrides if students haven't met the prerequisites.

Also, with respect to the FOS courses on the website, ANTH 201 is not a good BSSD choice for CCJS students. We've asked that it be replaced with POLI 101 since that is a program requirement.

I sent messages to students from the past two catalog years, including catalog year 202320. In that group, there were 60 AA students and 143 AAS students. I suspect that many of the AAS students should be AA students based on transfer goals, and I included a note indicating that if students planned to transfer to UMD or other local institutions, they should consult a program advisor to determine if they need to change their majors. I provided our program advisors' info, but I wanted to give you a heads up in the event you see a larger than normal number of requests for CCJS advising. I'm sure that many of these students are self-advising, but hopefully, the outreach will help get them on the right track.

Thanks!
