GEIR:
The choice for GEIR is COMM or HLTH or ARTD/HUMD – any combination of those 3
Using for MC Requirements:
If
they just want to graduate from MC, they can use one of the COMM classes as a
humanities and the other as a GEIR. You cannot choose two COMM classes in
the GEIR category and I’m not sure why a student would want to… You
cannot choose two of the same category for the GEIR’s.
Transfer Consideration:
If the student is transferring to UMCP – they will accept only one course from the two as both transfer in as = COMM 107 only.
This is something I wish our Gen Ed Program page stated more clearly in the HUMD section since many MC students transfer to UM.
So if students take both and graduate from MC and then transfer to UM, they will transfer with only 57 instead of 60 credits. They may come back and Communicate their Anger using their advanced COMM skills!
