Math - On Time Registration Appeals and Override Request Forms

To help with registration, the math department has created two forms for students.

The first is an on-time registration appeal form. The second is a form for requests for prereq overrides.

 These forms are being used by all three math department chairs. We all have access to the responses. That way if one of us is off, the students can still be helped.

ON TIME REGISTRATION APPEALS

 All students are required to register by 11:59 PM the day before the class begins. Exceptions to this policy are only granted in limited circumstances. If you are requested an exception to add a math after the registration deadline please submit your information at:

 OVERRIDE REQUESTS:

If you need a math course override, submit your request and, as applicable, any relevant documentation (college transcript, AP/SAT/ACT/CLEP exam scores, etc.) using this form: https://forms.office.com/r/suqXCmYGKE . Please do so while logged in to your MC account to ensure all uploads are successful.

Course Repeat - 2nd 7 weeks (Spring 2021)

We may begin to see students who are failing or did not complete a course the 1st 7 weeks and would like to enroll for the same course in the 2nd half of the semester. Here are the instructions from the Registrar how to assist students with the process. 

 Please direct students to email their campus registrar with the add/drop form.

Please remind counselors, for students who are taking a course for the 3rd attempt, they must have the override in Banner. For 4th attempts, they need to complete an Academic Appeal.

 

Once we receive the form, we can then register the student for the course they want to retake.

Repeating Courses in the Same Term - Banner 'DUP' Override

Banner will now allow students to take the same class twice in a term.  So if a student signs up for a class in the first half and drops or fails and wants to take it in second half they will need a DUP(licate) override in SFASRPO to do so.

 

MATH080 - Repeat Overrides

If a student is getting a repeat error for MATH080 they must be sent to the math department.  If they are getting an error then they are already at the point where they need an appeal.  They need an appeal after the 4^th attempt.  I occasionally see students who have taken the class 5 and even 6 times who have not gone through the appeals process which does not help them.  Previous attempts at MA094 count in the repeat limit too!

MA094 Repeat Overrides

We are authorized to provide an RPT override for a 3^rd and 4^th attempt at MA094. If students require a 5^th attempt (or more) – they will have to submit an academic appeal.
