Health Science Updates

Just a few notable changes/news from the health science programs in TP/SS:

  1. All of the programs except for Health Info Management (HIM) require the TEAS (HIM is thinking seriously of adding the TEAS in the future…so stay posted!)

  2. Nursing Application deadlines have changed:
    Fall Deadline: April 1
    Spring deadline: August 1

  3. If a student took BI 204 and BI 205 more than 5 years ago, he or she may take BI 218, Pathophysiology (3 sem. Hrs.) rather than take BI204-205 over again. Successful completion of BI 218 will then satisfy the Anatomy and Physiology requirements

  4. Reminder: Our HE 205 or Continuing Ed. CPR007 will satisfy the CPR certification for “Healthcare Provider” which the student needs after acceptance into a health science program.

Change in Class Registration Payment Deadlines

The table below lists the delete dates for fall semester registration:

If students register for fall classes: If no payment arrangement has been made, students will be DROPPED from classes on:
Before August 9 at 7 a.m. August 9, 2010 at 7 a.m.
August 9 to August 23 at 7 a.m. August 23, 2010 at 7 a.m.
August 23 to August 30 at 7 a.m. (NEW) August 30, 2010 at 7 a.m.
August 30 to September 7 at 7 a.m. (NEW) September 7, 2010 at 7 a.m.
On or after September 7 (NEW) Payment arrangements are required at the cashier's office prior to registering for classes.

Students who have made arrangements for payment will not be dropped for non-payment. Among these students are those with financial aid, signed forms with the Office of Student Financial Aid to hold their places in classes, active MC Tuition Installment Plans (TIP), and third-party (sponsor) payment arrangements with paperwork on file. Again, these students will not have their registration deleted. For additional information, open the attached Fall 2010 Registration and Payment Chart or go to the Payment Schedule Web site. Also, open the attached PDF file to see the new Registration and Payment Procedures for Faculty.

Extension of Late Date to Withdrawal - Spring 2010

Due to last week’s closure, the last dates to drop classes with a “W” have been extended. Faculty can view the revised dates through the ZSIRFND form in Banner; the instructions are attached.

All registered students have been sent emails directing them to visit MyMC to view the new dates.

Admissions and Records Drop and Graduation Updates

Please let students know that they should view their drop deadlines for courses from their MYMC accounts. Summer courses have different refund/audit/withdrawal dates because of their staggered start times and days. While we have access to drop/refund dates in Banner, it is far better to have them know where to find this information now and in the future. Plus, it keeps us out of potential trouble.

Did you know that a General Studies Major can use the extra credits from a math or science course as credits toward their 24 elective credits? For example, a student takes a second lab science to fulfill the non-lab requirement. The extra one (1) credit will float down to the electives. Same is true for a math course with extra foundation credits. As always, let the official graduation audit from the records office be the final word.
