Academic Restriction Hold Process Explained
- Initial short grade runs every night: beginning about halfway through the term, this process rolls grades, checks for repeats, and updates GPAs. This does not update academic standing or apply holds.
- Long grade run: This is run typically when we have 95+% of the grades for a term submitted. This process rolls grades, checks for repeats, updates GPAs, updates academic standing, and applies the AR holds.
- Continuing short grade runs: this process continues for a week or two after the long grade run to roll any grades that were not submitted at the time of the long grade run. This process rolls grades, checks for repeats, updates GPAs and updates academic standing but does not apply holds.
We have not yet run the long grade run for SSI as we are not yet at 95% grades submitted due to the fact that there are still a number of classes running. At this point the plan is to do the long grade run around Aug. 23, which will also be the date we plan to do the long grade run for SSII.

GOING PAPERLESS -- Academic Restriction & Banner
Remember, you can remove the academic restriction hold on SOAHOLD to allow restricted students access to online registration for two courses.
If you give the student permission to take more hours, there is no need to use the paper registration form. Instead make a note in SPACMNT, indicating the max number of hours the student may register for in the upcoming semester. It is also helpful to indicate specific courses discussed.
Direct the student to the SV building in order to have their max hours increased so they may register for the remaining hours in MYMC.
Example in SPACMNT:
Note to ARR: Based on discussion with student, he has permission to take up to 13 semester hours in spring 2011. Student plans to register for AR101, repeat BI101, EN102 and SP108. Also, recommended DS106 in place of SP108.
