Graphic Design - AFA or AAS
When you see students interested in Graphic Design please be aware that the college offers two programs in this area. One is an AFA not offered at Rockville (page 109 of your catalog) and leading to a BFA. The other degree is the AAS offered here. (page 179 of your catalog) BOTH have transferable courses but the AAS is the only one designed for students to get the AAS and go to work.
Bottom line here is to send students to the department so THEY can figure out which program works best for the student if you are unsure.

University of Maryland Pre Transfer Advising Walk In Hours at UMCP
Pre-Transfer Advisors: Megan Forbes and Keonna Feaster
The University of Maryland Pre-Transfer Advising program provides support to prospective transfer students by assessing their readiness to transfer to the University of Maryland and estimating their time to degree completion.
The Univerity of Maryland Pre-Transfer Advising office walk-in hours will be on Mondays and Thursdays from 1:30pm-4pm. This is a great opportunity for students with *quick and simple questions* to receive immediate assistance. Students with more detailed questions (transferability of credits, remaining major requirements, academic planning) are encouraged to schedule a regular 30-minute appointment. Visit http://www.transferadvising.umd.edu for more information.
Please don't hesitate to contact Megan at mforbes@umd.edu or 301-405-9449.
