The PACE program is growing steadily. As we move toward a larger program that can serve more of our students, we have made some procedural changes. The PACE program itself has not changed, but with the creation of a college-wide PACE Committee and Coordinator, we have worked closely with Counseling and Advising and the Assessment Center to make the registration process smoother.
Here is a brief outline of the procedures for potential PACE student
- Students take the Accuplacer in Assessment Center
- Assessment Center informs qualifying students (RD >79; SS<89 for="" immediately="" is="" may="" nbsp="" not="" pace="" required="" sample="" sit="" sitting="" span="" the="" they="" writing="">89>
- PACE writing samples are scanned to pace@montgomerycollege.edu
- Committee reviews essays for placement
- Students receive e-mail to notify them of placement (ENGL 001, 002, or PACE 101A)
- PACE-qualifying students are instructed to come to Germantown, Takoma Park/Silver Spring, or Rockville office to begin the registration process
- Office staff verifies placement when student shows qualifying email; they then put comments into Banner to indicate the student is “PACE eligible”
- Office staff provides ADD/DROP forms and a list of PACE sections for students
- Once students decide on the class section, office staff or chair signs the ADD/DROP form
- ACE stamp will be marked on the form to further secure accuracy
- Students will be advised to go to Registrar’s office to complete registration
