Hey All,
I just wanted to give you a heads up that I am sending the attached letter to GS students in 129 with fewer than 45 credits at the end of this semester. They need to change their majors. We need to clean up 129 and basically get it off the books-- The only students who should still be on it either should have an appealable reason to be on it or ready to graduate this semester or next.
Please, please can you pass the word to your colleagues that 129 is really going off the books and students need to be in a different, current major.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Samantha
Hi,
You are receiving this email because you are registered in
the General Studies program under the 129 code. You also have fewer than 45
credits and are not close to completing the requirements for graduation. As a result, you need to change your major as
soon as possible. You have several options, please choose one of them.
Consequences of not changing your major may
include restriction of financial aid, delay of graduation, taking courses that
will not help you graduate thereby increasing time to graduation, and at some
point restricting your ability to register for classes.
We want to help you keep on track toward completing your
academic goals at Montgomery College, so please take advantage of the resources
we have available to help you.
Option One- Change your major now
Review the programs available at Montgomery College by going
here: https://www.montgomerycollege.edu/academics/programs/index.html
)
If you know what program is right for you, change your major
by completing and submitting the change of program form: https://www.montgomerycollege.edu/admissions-registration/student-resources/change-your-major.html
Option Two:
Meet with a program advisor or counselor to discuss
alternative majors. You can make an appointment with a program advisor by
reaching out to one of the program advisors for General Studies (found
here: https://www.montgomerycollege.edu/academics/program-advising/index.html#g
) or by making an appointment in Starfish with a counselor here: https://www.montgomerycollege.edu/counseling-and-advising/meet-with-a-counselor-advisor.html
We look forward to working with you in General Studies or
any other program at Montgomery College.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Professor Veneruso
