Student Athletes & Eligibility

Mark Crutchfield, our college-wide Athletic Director, confirmed that in order to be eligible to participate in our sports programs students must be enrolled in 12+ credit hours. And those hours must be at the campus in which they plan to play.

There is no change to the policy/eligibility for EN001, EN002, RD095, RD099, MA094, MA097, and MA099 courses. Those billing hours can be included in the 12 “credit” hours. Example, a student with EN001, RD095, and DS103 would be good to go because he/she would have 12 billing hours/2 credits.

The problems comes in with classes that have a difference in credits and billings hours, like AELP, EN101A, etc. Apparently they can only use the number of credits award to determine eligibility.

As we have discussed previously, this may mean that some AELP students would need 18 semester hours in order to have 12 credit hours to be eligible. Food for thought when working with these students.
