You can always find
an updated copy on the MC Transfer Page – go to “Advising by Majors” and
look for “Business”. http://cms.montgomerycollege.edu/EDU/department4sub1.aspx?id=10187
- Believe it or not, there are no changes to admissions requirements for the
Smith School this time.
The only change to this page
is that the General
Education areas now refer students to check a current Gen Ed List rather than spelling out
specific courses. This is necessary because students MUST
choose future courses from the new 2018-19 General Education Program List and
not a previous copy. This is a link to the 2018-19 Gen Ed List in the
Online Catalog: http://catalog.montgomerycollege.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=9&poid=2369
- And just a few Insider Notes:
- The Smith School at the Main Campus remains highly
competitive. While the minimum GPA state is a 3.0, the going rate
for entry seems to be at least a 3.5 overall GPA, with mostly A’s
and some B’s in business courses of ACCT, ECON, and MATH if others are
completed beyond the Gateway courses of ACCT 221, MATH 150 & MATH
117/BSAD 210 Stat.
- Admission to the Smith School at Shady Grove seems to
be more individual. While the expectation is at least a 3.0 or
higher, if a student has Gateway repeats with a strong reason for the
repeat(s) or other circumstances, the application might still be
considered further. It is important to inform students that
Smith-Shady Grove is a Fall Entrance, full-time daytime program. At
this point (in May), admission continues to be on a rolling basis until
the majors of Accounting, Management, and Marketing are filled. The
application deadline is June 1.
