Math/English Placement Updates - Fall 2012

ENGLISH

There has been a slight change for direct placement for EN102.

• SAT = 600-699 - possible placement into EN102 or 109 (complete “check on placement” essay in Assessment Center)

• SAT = 700 – direct placement into EN102 or 109

MATH

The most significant change is the addition of MA116A. The Department has also adjusted Accuplacer score cutoffs, but we’re waiting to hear back from the Math department before we finalize this on the placement sheet.

It should be noted that both MA115A and MA116A have intermediate algebra (MA097) embedded in the first few weeks of the course. We are hoping to get advising notes from the Math department as to the factors students should consider when choosing between formats (e.g., MA097àMA116 versus MA116A).

To be continued….
