- Students will need to put in additional lab time of either 75 minutes (Germantown and TP campuses which meet once a week with instructor) or 75 minutes at Rockville (two meetings/per week = reduced lab time required).
- However, just as every other course, students are expected to put in an additional 6 hours of homework beyond the required lab and class time. This additional time is the key to finishing the course in one semester or finishing half of it (part I or successfully completing 6 tests).
- It is suggested that the additional 6 hours be done in the lab
because if they can't figure out a problem at home they get frustrated and quit
and wait until the next lab session or class. If they do all of their
studying in the lab they have immediate access to an instructor.
- Calculators are not allowed in tests from 1A through test 4 (5 tests total). Many students have difficulty passing these tests not because they don't understand the concepts or can't apply the concepts but because they lack basic multiplication/division, addition/subtraction - I often refer students to flashcards to acquire these skills.
