Good morning!
I refreshed the
refresher, see attached (available on Counseling One -- Advising Docs\2020\Dean Processes). The only real change is on page 1 regarding fall
and spring overload requests up to 21 hours, which counselors and advisors can
approve. Please put comments in Banner and Starfish, whether your support
or not. However, if you do support the request, contact Raptor Central
with the max hour change by emailing them at raptorcentral@montgomerycollege.edu
and copying the student. Raptor Central will not make the update
without a comment from a counselor or advisor.
Basic Overload FAQs
Do students have to see a counselor/advisor first?
Yes. We want to make sure students have discussed this with a counselor/advisor
first and that they understand the pros and cons.
What if I do not support the student’s request for overload?
Please, please, please state that in Banner and/or Starfish. It is okay for you to share
your concerns (or support) with the student. Either way, they have the right to submit
a request, but that information is helpful in the decision making process.
Can a student or counselor/advisor just contact your office directly for this?
No. We have the referrals going through Starfish and Maxient to track requests, but
also keep the process consistent at each campus.
How long does it take to process requests?
Between 3 to 5 business days.
If you have other questions, feel free to contact the Dean’s Office.
Regards,
Mr. Marcus
